Ground Beef Stroganoff (Hamburger)

Loved this easy comfort food recipe. Made it tonight with the following changes. I didn’t have enough fresh mushrooms, so I did half mushrooms and half fresh asparagus that I cut in 1″ pieces. Just added with the mushrooms. I used the Artisan Beef Broth in a box…was really good and added flavor. Also added a few shakes of sriracha hot sauce and about a tsp of dijon and some dried thyme. Also did not have sour cream but I had heavy cream, so used that instead. I think with the addition of the dijon it was fine and worked and still had the little kick that sour cream would’ve added. I know if sounds like I completely changed it but I didn’t….just made some minor modifications based on what I had on hand and it was DELICIOUS!!!

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 3/4 lb fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Frist Brown ground beef, onion and garlic (trying not to break it up too much) in a pan until no pink remains. Drain fat.
  2. Then Add sliced mushrooms and cook 2-3 minutes. Stir in flour and cook 1 more minute.
  3. Then Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer on low 10 minutes. Cook egg noodles according to package directions.
  5. Then Remove beef mixture from the heat, stir in sour cream and parsley.
  6. Serve over egg noodles.
